Social networking tools such as facebook would be another useful tool in the library environment. It would provide another avenue for promotion, marketing, feedback and opinions to a totally new audience and another way to provide information eg services such as book clubs, upcoming events , etc to existing users.
Web 2.0 has been a great learning experience although I've had to struggle through some sections (showing my age). It has been immensely mind broadening, not only expanding my knowledge of what is available but also providing a better understanding of the potential of these tools.
Many thanks to PLS.

Week 10 - Mashups
Isn't it amazing all the things that can be done! If you can get them to work.
In the library setting:
virtual town walk, virtual heritage town walk - these would be great for historical and tourist information. We have a lot of mines in our area - some sort of map indicating where each mine is would be useful addition.
Update: I realised some time ago I had saved the photo in the wrong place. I'm going to send anyway without completing properly as time is getting away.
Update: Mail marshall wouldn't let email go through as a link so I'm progressing to Week 12

Week 8 - Answer boards
I really enjoyed this one (nothing complex) however not sure whether I would contribute myself. We have one of our younger staff members who is a whizz at this. As someone else has said - the sort of thing to appeal to the younger, now generation.
Answer boards would be very useful in the library environment - ask a librarian? (reference). Could also provide a platform for book reviews by patrons in which other patrons could rate books etc and then be used as a type of readers' advisory.

Week 6 - Youtube etc
This was OK. However, I didn't take the challenge and do the adventure of embedding a video. Mosman certainly gets some impressive authors to visit.
Excellent examples of how video is being used in libraries. Our organisation could use it for a tour of the library, instructional - eg for internet classes, historical information eg talks by living books, archival, record of events hosted in the library. A myriad of potential uses.
